(I deliberately avoided the 4500MHD myself 14 months ago when I purchased my new laptop). I'm asking because a friend (who uses openSUSE) is looking at purchasing an Asus U元0A with the Intel GMA 4500MHD, they have asked my opinion (and I owe them some favours from years back), and if it may give them problems I want to warn them. What sort of success have users with a PC with an Intel GMA 4500 have had? Unfortunately, no one with Intel video have updated the openSUSE HCL: HCL/Video Cards - openSUSE Its not clear to me at all how much the GMA 4500 is supported, but my surfing suggests the GM45 includes the GMA 4500 in the above?

Where do you even find Linux drivers for Intel GMA graphics cards? I have been looking for one for GMA 4500MHD on Intel Download sites, without success.Did you ever have any success with this? The Intel driver for openSUSE normally comes with the rpm "xorg-x11-driver-video" and I documented the little I know here: openSUSE Graphic Card Practical Theory Guide for Users - openSUSE ForumsĪccording to the documentation for the "intel" driver that comes with that rpm, the "intel" driver supports the i810, i810-DC100, i810e, i815, i830M, 845G, 852GM, 855GM, 865G, 915G, 915GM, 945G, 945GM, 965G, 965Q, 946GZ, 965GM, 945GME, G33, Q33, Q35, G35, GM45, G45, Q45, G43 and G41 chipsets.
